Benzedeiras

What: A project about a lost tradition
When: 2016
Where: Socorro - Brasil
Role:  Creative Director
What I Did: Full Visual Identity and Promotional Artworks + Book Design
For: Socorro Culture Department
In 2016 I was already living in São Paulo but I kept tight connections with the city of Socorro, where I lived as a teenager, before moving to the big city to study Architecture.
It’s my mom’s hometown, and a beautiful place to recharge batteries when the urban jungle worns you out.

The city of Socorro started organizing a lot of expositions and events and needed someone to do all the visuals for them.
Benzedeira was about promoting an almost extinct traditional practice: the women that used to cure through natural “blessing” (Benzer = to bless, Benzedeira= woman that blesses).

For the artworks I decided to do a collage with all the plants that they used for the “blessings” at that time.
Besides the banners and e-flyers, they asked me to design a little book about the story of the Benzedeiras that were still alive at that time.
